We want you to carry away this Congress the new vision of a world you do not know: that of a comprehensive educational and social life that will engage in the best of yourselves, this living work of thirst, the need for research and ideals, generosity and dedication you carry within you the first fruits since you’re here. It also needs solidarity and fraternity that tomorrow in your classes, thankfully replace the cold authoritarian educational practices today signed their bankruptcy.
This spirit, this feeling of communion sensitive to a work, this solidarity can not teach, and no one will speak during this Congress. But you will live and work around you in such total brotherhood, team, always important in our Congress, of those who said our faithful, with the understanding that this is not a loyalty a man or a group, but a total integration to a thought, an ideal, life techniques, without which we can not live anymore.
It is this commitment to all of us in our common cause, which is our strength and cement. So that you enter for the first time in one of our Congress, do not just look for them in the stands and in the halls technical information as you would in a large advertising show. Unlock sensitivity, free your heart to feel and enjoy the new current of life in which you undertake your turn.
You will become, with us, beside us, in the same struggle, School of Modern Educators able to bring to a devitalized education, the breath of spirituality, sensitivity and intelligence that will regenerate it and you regenerate. To allow you to enter more and walk-in the privacy of this great Congress, and to the thousands of comrades who could not go to these meetings know how much we think of them, we would like that this inaugural meeting, you thought fraternal recognition for these men and women who have, their ingenuity, their generosity, their dedication and talent, prepared the building you can benefit today.
Many are still here, and that to me is the greatest joy to greet them, all these comrades, some have left the job now, but, for attachment to the common work, are accurate to our annual meeting -you work and friendship. They are a bit like the old peasant who dropped the spade and fork, but who still returns periodically to tour its properties to see if he had built the walls still stand and are so well trimmed trees he had planted. And they are still available to give a hand or sound advice.
You will like them one day, at least I hope so. This will be the sign that you have found in your educational function, more than one earner, a reason to live. I can not venture to quote names, for fear that some of our good comrades are victims of unintentional oversight.
However, it is expensive figures that confront us at this very moment, and it is with emotion and gratitude we salute here the name of our friendship Modern School. This is unfortunately missing. Our elders remember our dear Rigobert which was long one of the most dedicated leaders of our Cooperative Education Lay.
I can see him during a Congress like this when we were fighting the recall of good will to build our home in Cannes CEL; and we will also renew the appeal for other material and educational buildings. At the exit of one of our sessions Rigobert was there, at the door, attended I believe our friend Faure. Quite simply, hat in hand, he assured fraternal quest for our good works, beyond the individual, perpetuate the memory of those who sacrificed it.
Our dear Rigobert has left us a few months ago, struck the wheel of his car by a heart attack. For the first time missed by our Congress our dear Tessier, poignant symbol of presence to our movement he was with Jeanne Tessier a pioneer. Regulars of our Congress saw, there are two or three years, an original pair haunt our corridors and our rooms.
Jeanne, sick, physically exhausted, but nevertheless following with interest the work of the committees, flipping through albums, participating in what was his life as an educator; him, big guy Touraine, disabled war veteran, recalling with a hilarious sense his beautiful Modern School experience. Tessier comrade passed away two years ago. Raoul Tessier was again last year, worried and tormented, troubled to serve until the end the idea that animated his life.
Raoul Tessier fell ill and was hospitalized in Tours where our friends helped Touraine and assist as we see a father. At the time I speak with her thought is we who are his true family, that he has chosen to make universal legatee of all his property. Nothing moves us this great loyalty and is in the name of all that we send just now Raoul Tessier our get well wishes, thanks and warm friendship. And there’s another fellow that I hoped to find here is Marguerite Bouscarrut.
She is the founder of the Cooperative Education Lay Cinematheque, which later became the LCF. Only compelling circumstances had to stop him for coming. We extend our affectionate and grateful thoughts. * Our movement Modern School is not a strictly educational association nor a technical service: it is an element of life. Our originality is to place everywhere, at school, in the street, in our family and in our Congress, our theories and words according to our individual and social behavior.
It is even to this sign that we distinguish the true qualification Modern School. We make little speeches – and excuse us if we are few experts – but it is in the same organization and conduct of this Congress you feel this Modern School spirit which we honor. We are not, in our classrooms, the Masters who claim to control everything from the outside and that exhaust to control those who do not obey.
We are the workers in their teams, workers from other workers and everyone, great and small, has its honorable part in the work. We just have to organize the work and, of course, paramount thing, having to take a work not only interesting, but very often exciting, enriching us, mobilizes and disciplines us. And that’s all that our movement is based strictly on our instructional design education work.
To paradoxical as it may seem, our organization that touches so far 40,000 teachers and professors, which publishes 8 magazines, which animates 5000 school newspapers, who knows abroad a growing audience with the broad participation of all countries in homework help with physics
this Congress synthesizes far, this organization works with one device at 4 to 5 people. You may be surprised to find only here in this Congress to a thousand people, no leader but only those responsible.
These officials distributed in all regions of France and abroad are all workers. They are the best workers. They are the real leaders of our movement Modern School. It is they who organize groups, derive and disseminate newsletters, prepare meetings, meetings and courses. It is they who advertise, meet journalists protesting against if any oversights, not always involuntary each other.
And you see here at work, the team of Haute-Savoie, helped by comrades from neighboring departments that provide us all the outstanding task of organizing what will be one of the best Congress of our movement. It is sometimes surprised that, in our classrooms, we can actually delete notes, rankings, awards and honor roll, and that our students are not in yet more ardent individual and community work. This same spirit is the same discipline that drive the bulk of our members.
They all work as volunteers, eager to serve; their most beautiful works, they offer us, they’ll offer.
